Workers protected underground

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Bull Products, a manufacturer of life-saving fire protection equipment, has won a contract to supply its prestigious alarm system during work on Bond Street tube station.

Bull’s Cygnus Wireless Alarm System replaced a previously installed system that couldn’t deliver what the contractors required for the project – a high-connectivity alarm system with a powerful radio frequency which was strong enough to work underground. The previous system took two minutes to send an alert to the panel from alarms situated underground at platform level. Once installed in place of the old system, the Cygnus System received an alert instantaneously when an alarm was raised.

Working alongside world-leading project development and construction group, Skanska, and technology-based engineering solutions company, Costain, Bull has supplied 39 Fire Call Point Alarms, 12 Heat Detectors and a Control Panel. The units have been installed across five underground floors and the platform, thus providing the ultimate protection for more than 250 workers.
