The Royal Society for the
Prevention of Accidents has
launched a new health and safety
qualification which recognises a
person’s competence using on-thejob
performance for assessment,
rather than relying on examinations.

The new City and Guilds NVQ
Level 5 Diploma in Occupational
Health and Safety enables the holder
to apply for membership of the
Institution of Occupational Safety
and Health at graduate level
(GradIOSH). It offers an alternative
route to Chartered Membership of
IOSH status; National Vocational
Qualifications (NVQs) recognise a
person’s competence in a work
situation, giving credit for jobs done
on a day-to-day basis.
