Two million landmark

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Two million safe hours have been achieved by Hertel, the multi-disciplinary construction and maintenance services company, working at sites operated by Magnox, the organisation responsible for operating ten of the UK’s first generation of nuclear power stations.

Hertel provides access, insulation and asbestos removal services through a maintenance framework contract in addition to other project work across five of the sites operated by Magnox on behalf of their owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. The majority of the hours were accrued at Wylfa power station on Anglesey, where Hertel’s workforce of 70 racked up over 1.4 million hours without a recordable incident.

The remaining hours were achieved across the other sites in Ayrshire, North Wales, Kent and Somerset.
