Sky Sports coverage has the Edge!

Sky Sports leading provider of worldwide sports
entertainment chose to use Shawcity and the Edge
Noise Dosimeter to monitor their crew at the British
Grand Prix 2012.

Sky wanted to ensure that the crew were not over exposed to
noise levels and were using adequate hearing protection. The
team’s extensive research lead them to source the Shawcity Edge
Noise Dosimeter.

During the race Sky Sports utilised 14 Edge Noise Dosimeters
on crew members to cover all areas accessed including, the pit
lane, paddock, OB compound including on the mobile crew who
had access to majority of areas around the site.

Sarah Singleton, Health and Safety Media and Technology Ops
Manager at Sky Sports had the responsibility of ensuring all
personnel involved wore the light, unobtrusive 3M instruments
as well as monitoring the results obtained.

Sarah explained that in order to get a good assessment of all
areas, they would need 14 noise monitors and that hiring the
instruments would be better suited to her company. Shawcity’s
extensive range of instruments enabled Sky to hire the 14 Edges
at short notice and the units were hand
delivered to the F1 site by an assigned
Shawcity representative. Instrument training
was also provided on site to Sarah to ensure
she knew exactly how to use her hire
instruments and the support continued
during and after the hire.

When asked how she felt about the
instruments and service received, Sarah
stated; “They did what we needed them to!
