Safe-Edge from Micromech has been
developed as a cost effective, long
term solution to help with the
requirements of the Disability
Discrimination Act Part III (DDA),
and in particular the sections relevant
to the partially sighted. The Act, in
essence, requires all stairs accessed by
the public to have a contrasting
coloured nosing fitted to all step
edges and in addition such nosings
should provide a slip resistant surface.

Safe-Edge is a pre-formed fibre
glass profile constructed by
combining polyester resins with fibre
reinforcements. Two types of grit
surfaces are available, Type ‘I’ with
its smaller grit size, offers good slip
resistancy whilst allowing a surface
that’s reasonably easy to clean. Type
‘E’, with a much heavier grit profile
is ideal for the rigors of the external
environment.

Safe-Edge is available in two sizes,
70 x 30mm and 55 x 55mm.
