Protection from UV exposure could save lives
OUTDOOR WORKERS have a higher than average risk of developing skin cancer, with 1,700 people, getting skin cancer from sun exposure at work each year.
However, 90% of skin cancer deaths could have been prevented if exposure to UV rays were controlled.

Recent interviews (conducted by Deb Group) with workers reveal the real situation regarding attitudes to UV, the effect that dangerous UV rays has had on their skin, and their approach to protection, including wearing sun cream, when working outdoors.
Warren, a handyman: “Applying sunscreen probably isn’t the first thing that springs to mind when I’m about to start a task. I just want to get on and start my day.”
Danny, a construction worker: “I’ve worked in construction for the last 30 years. I don’t always wear sun cream when I work outside. I’ve been burnt more on the overcast days than the sunny days.”
