3M has extended its service
tools portfolio to support
health and safety managers
in the training, education
and product selection of
hearing protective
equipment (HPE).

The Hearing Selector
Tool is a free service
available via the 3M website
and allows users to input
the noise levels of their
working environment into a
datasheet. This then helps
them select suitable products
for the workplace. The
selection process can be
carried out by two methods
depending on the data
collected: the High,
Medium, Low (HML)
method can be selected if
LA (at ear) and LC (peak)
values have been identified;
or the Octave Band Analysis
method if octave band
analysis noise measurement
has been undertaken.
