First aid at work course

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Slips, trips and falls are the most common cause of injuries in the workplace.

People should ensure that they know how to deal with these incidents, according to the British Red Cross. Sprains and strains happen when the soft tissues are over-stretched. The RICE procedure will help to relieve the symptoms:

> R: Rest the injured part.

> I: Ice or a cold pack should be applied to reduce swelling.

> C: Comfortable support for the injury.

> E: Elevate the injured limb to help minimise bruising and swelling.

If you are in any doubt about how serious the injury is, seek medical attention.
This and other first aid skills are included in the British Red Cross’ first aid at work course, which can be booked now.
