External expertise

A leading provider of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries has brought in online experts Cedrec to produce new legal, and aspects and impacts’ registers.

The move has enabled OGN Group to stay on top of changes in legislation and step-up the proactive planning of long term compliance with the requirements of standards, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
OGN’s work can involve people working at height on scaffolding, managing hazardous substances and handling heavy-duty industrial equipment, often in a tough and uncompromising environment.
The company sees the interpretation and analysis provided by Cedrec as integral to the safe operation of European safety and environmental practices; working closely with the Sunderland-based firm to interpret a raft of complex legislation and how it impacts on business activities.
These range from procedures for Reporting Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR), on-site contractors’ health and safety, workplace exposure limits, classification of site waste, health surveillance and monitoring, flood risk assessment for new buildings and asbestos management among others.
