Championing health and safety across the Midlands
FOR MORE than 90 years, Birmingham Health, Safety and Environment Association (BHSEA) has been helping organisations of all sizes create safer, healthier workplaces.

As a not-for-profit membership association, BHSEA goes beyond compliance guidance, offering practical, people-first support that empowers professionals to manage risk effectively while promoting the wellbeing of working people. By connecting health and safety professionals, business leaders and practitioners across sectors, BHSEA provides the knowledge, confidence and professional community needed to raise standards, reduce workplace risk, and embed a culture of safety.
Designed to support organisations at every stage of their health and safety journey, members benefit from:
- Monthly seminars and technical sessions featuring regulators, industry specialists and subject experts
- Practical training and workshops addressing compliance, risk management, and current and emerging challenges
- Access to trusted resources, templates and updates to help navigate legislation and best practice
- A supportive professional network where members can share experiences, seek advice and learn from peers
- Opportunities to contribute to discussions and influence direction through open forums, Q&A sessions and engagement with the BHSEA Council

BHSEA will be welcoming visitors at stand 3/J91 during The Health & Safety Event 2026. Attendees can take part in an interactive hazard-spotting challenge on a toy construction site, putting their attention to detail to the test. Each day, participants will be entered into a prize draw to win a bottle of Prosecco. A fun, hands-on activity with a serious message – highlighting how careful observation and awareness are key to effective health and safety management.
Marisa Firkins, chair of BHSEA, said: “We’re really looking forward to meeting both existing members and new contacts at this year’s Health and Safety Event. The experiences, challenges and questions shared by our members help shape BHSEA’s direction, so we’re always keen to hear about the value membership brings, the topics people would like us to explore, and how we can continue supporting the profession.
“Whether you have a technical query, are interested in joining, or simply want to connect with like-minded professionals, we’d be delighted to welcome you to the stand. With membership designed to be accessible, every organisation – no matter its size – can benefit from the support, resources and community BHSEA offers.”
