HSE reminds SMEs health and safety doesn’t need to be costly or complicated

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Speaking on the first day of The Health & Safety Event, which took place at the NEC in Birmingham from the 11th to 13th March, HSE policy director Jane Willis encouraged businesses to focus their resources on real risks rather than waste time and money on unnecessary safety measures.

Sharing details of a new HSE initiative, the ABC Logo, that’s been designed to help SMEs recognise relevant HSE tools and guidance, Willis said the initiative aims: “To show SMEs how straightforward health and safety can be.”

“When they see the logo they know something has been designed specifically with them in mind,” said Jane.

The H&S ABC provides simple information to help small firms save time, effort and money by identifying the things they really do and don’t need to do, avoiding unnecessary paperwork and effort.
