As the lead UK trade association for the safety and health industry, the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) is delighted to be joining forces with key stakeholders for this year’s Expo, from 21st to 23rd June as we prepare to headline and relaunch the enhanced Registered Safety Suppliers Scheme (RSSS), designed to enhance the quality of personal protective equipment provided to the occupational safety user.
As general manager for the British Safety Industry Federation, Frank Angear has jetted back to Brussels to gather the best understanding of how the European PPE Regulation will affect the UK’s health and safety market.
In our industry, Notified Bodies determine whether a product meets the health and safety requirements of the PPE Directive and award it a CE mark (it is illegal to offer any item of PPE for sale in Europe without a CE mark).
Alan Murray, CEO of the BSIF, has issued a statement, sharing his thoughts on the UK’s exit from the EU:
The British Safety Council and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) have joined together to urge the government to publish a schedule and structure for exit negotiations so that employers can develop plans which will assure safety, health and wellbeing of their workforce in the short to medium term.
The BSIF re-launched the Registered Safety Supplier Scheme during the Safety & Health Expo on 21 June 2016, strengthening the terms of membership and ensuring that it will make further major contributions to the quality of Personal Protective Equipment supplied to the UK workforce.
