HSM Live Scotland: Now in Glasgow!

Posted on Tuesday 21 October 2025

Now in its third year, Health & Safety Matters Live Scotland takes place on 27 November at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow. We speak with Christine Knapp to discover what’s in store for this year’s event — including the exciting move to the new venue.

Can you tell me about HSM Live Scotland?

This year marks HSM Live’s third event in Scotland. Following the overwhelming number of attendees and high demand for exhibition space last year, we’ve listened to your feedback and are moving to a new venue. The conference will now be held at the SEC Glasgow — with the added bonus of free onsite parking.

Can you reiterate the thought process behind launching the event?

We realised there hadn’t been a dedicated health and safety event in Scotland for quite some time. Having attended previous events ourselves, it was clear there was strong demand from end users for something local — an event that offers high-quality content, CPD accreditation, and valuable networking opportunities.

Q: What are the plans for the day?
As a one-day tabletop event, we bring together a wide range of exhibitors from across the health and safety industry, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with them in a relaxed, accessible setting.

The event also features a comprehensive conference programme spread across two dedicated theatres, offering a diverse range of topics. Sessions will be delivered not only by exhibitors, but also by key industry associations and leading experts.

The event will be co-located with the NEBOSH Conference, and while this is for its alumni, there will be plenty of opportunity to network and engage with its audience.

What makes this event different?
This is the only dedicated health and safety event held in the heart of Scotland, offering a unique opportunity for professionals to come together locally. Alongside CPD-accredited seminars, one of the standout features is the live mock trial, taking place in the afternoon.

Performed by real barristers and based on an actual court case, the mock trial offers attendees rare insight into what can happen if a prosecution takes place. The audience takes on the role of the jury, deciding the outcome before the real verdict is revealed — making it an engaging and educational experience unlike any other.

Why was this venue chosen?
Glasgow gives us the space we need to grow the event and meet increasing demand. It's easily accessible by both car and public transport, making it convenient for attendees from across Scotland and beyond.

It also feels like a homecoming — bringing a dedicated health and safety event back to Glasgow for the first time in eight years is something we’re really proud of.

You mentioned partnerships — can you tell us more?
At HSM, we work very closely with the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) and are proud to partner with them across all of our events. HSM is also the official media partner of the BSIF, reinforcing our shared commitment to promoting safety standards across the industry.

We’re also delighted to have NEBOSH as a key partner. They’ve been working closely with us and are running their own co-located conference at the event, dedicated exclusively to their alumni. You can find their full conference timetable in this preview.

Tell us about the sponsors
We’re incredibly fortunate to have the support of some fantastic sponsors who help make this event possible. Hultafors Group (Snickers Workwear) returns as our headline sponsor, and we’re pleased to welcome back The Safety Knife Company as the sponsor of our delegate bags.

Our seminar theatres are generously sponsored by ELTEN Footwear and IOSH, while the registration area is supported by HSI Donesafe.

We’re also proud to have a large number of speaking sponsors contributing to the programme. Without the support and commitment of all our sponsors, this event simply wouldn’t be possible — and we’re truly grateful for their continued partnership.

What are your aspirations for the day?
We expect a strong turnout of attendees from both the local area and beyond, representing all aspects of the health and safety sector. Our aim is for everyone to benefit from the extensive CPD-accredited content, connect and network with colleagues, and explore the wide range of exhibitors showcasing their products and services in the breakout area.

Once again, we’re excited to feature the hugely popular mock trial in the afternoon. This session has always drawn a large audience, and we hope attendees gain valuable insight from this real-life prosecution case.

What’s next in the series?
On 26 February 2026, we’re excited to launch HSM Live Leeds, taking place at Leeds Football Club’s Elland Road stadium. This new addition will strengthen the reach of our popular one-day events and fill a key gap in the North East.

HSM Live Coventry will return on 1st July at the CBS Arena. The big news this year is that the annual SHE Awards will move from the NEC and take place the evening after the Coventry event. Over 850 attendees will gather to celebrate the best in health and safety, enjoying a fantastic night of entertainment — including bumper cars!
