BSIF Winner Product Innovation Awards

myViSafe re-engages and re-invigorates manual handling training. The revolutionary training solution is designed to help achieve consistent compliance with best practice, leading to reductions in manual handling injuries and incidents. This is achieved through a combination of cutting-edge wearable sensors and state-of-the-art app-based software, allowing employees to assess their workers’ movements on-the-job and in real-time.

In doing so, employees can understand if they are moving within safe parameters or if they are putting their backs, shoulders or knees at risk. Corrections can be made immediately to correct technique, and the subsequent change in movement profile can be seen clearly in the movement profile data, reinforcing this positive change to the employee straight away.

Zoe Whyatt, head of sales and operations at dorsaVi Europe, who made the presentation, said: “The number of days lost due to work related musculoskeletal injuries has stayed relatively constant for the last five years. A superb presentation from Zoe getting across really effectively the benefits that body sensors can bring – most importantly in helping identifying tell-tale signs early. A great example of a product with prevention at its heart – pressed all the right buttons – helping to ensure safe and healthy work.

“All 12 finalists for the BSIF’s 2017 health and safety awards are to be congratulated on the quality of the products they presented and successfully getting across to the judges the impact these products will have in preventing the risk of injury and ill health in the workplace. What the finalists demonstrated superbly was the fact that expertise, determination and innovation together are essential if we are going to be more effective in identifying and controlling workplace risks. Many of the finalists, whilst developing existing quality products, identified important areas where improvement in risk control could be made.

“The presentations from all 12 finalists were thought provoking and persuasive. All demonstrated that time does not stand still and that innovation is key to maintaining and improving our management of the risk of injury and ill health. Whether applying complex scientific solutions or adapting existing technology all of the finalists left you with the clear sense that their products definitely met the changing needs of business to ensure the health and safety of their people.
