Ground breaking approach to HAVs
05 April 2023
HAVI TECHNOLOGIES says it has developed a world first in insight-led HAVs reporting, delivering the most comprehensive automatically generated insights to businesses and organisations, helping them comply with the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 and make Better Decisions, Faster!

New ActivIQ includes a game-changing HAVSRiskIndex (HRI) that visualises the key data needed to effectively control exposure to vibration and allows managers to swiftly identify which individuals, teams, tools and tasks pose the greatest risk at a glance. Central to the report is a 0-5 HRI score which is based on overall operative exposure and alerts, the score and is backed up with insights and SmartRecommendations for improvement, gives health and safety managers the ability to understand the level of HAVs risk within the workforce and take steps to lower the score and ensure exposure as low as possible.
The accurate and reliable data contained in ActivIQ is collected directly from the tool, to provide a realtime comparison of vibration magnitude with the industry benchmark to indicate sub-optimal tool performance or operator form. The data enables businesses to take tactical and focussed decisions quickly regarding a tool’s condition, operator exposure and whether additional training is needed for operators to gain a better understanding of the dangers of over exposure to vibration.
HAVi’s Kate Cole said: “We fully understand the challenges managers face with the day to day running of a business whilst at the same time having the moral and legal requirement to meet Health & Safety obligations. Our clients are often time poor and we have developed ActivIQ and with this in mind, our clients no longer need to spend excessive time analysing raw data in order to take action, our new reports provide this information at a glance whilst at the same time underpinning a ‘ALARP’ policy to managing HAV.
“This really is a huge step forward in managing hand arm vibration, simplifying the process and equipping business with the insight and action plans to make significant change,” Kate added.
The combination of HAVi Technologies’ ActivIQ and HAVSRiskIndex is an industry first and will provide businesses with smarter insights allowing them to make Better Decisions, Faster!. All HAVi solutions have been developed in full alignment with the HSE’s Guidelines on HAV Management.
One of the first to recognise the benefits of such a powerful solution were Cadent Gas Ltd. Cadent’s Health and Safety Manager, S. Furber said: “The HAVi ACTIVIQ has helped CADENT to fully understand our HAV risk and to put in place new measures to lower the exposure levels for our tool operators. The easy to understand insights allow us to quickly engage stakeholders and importantly generate action to improve the health outcomes for our workforce.”
