Anchor Safety partners with Eave
24 October 2024
ANCHOR SAFETY and Eave announce a unique partnership aimed at preventing Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) – a workplace injury leading to the biggest preventable factor in cognitive degeneration and dementia.

PPE supplier, Anchor Safety, has announced an exciting partnership with hearing protection specialists, Eave. Eave is the creator of a pioneering and unique noise management solution which offers businesses complete 360o support in protecting themselves and their staff from the effects of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).
NIHL is being taken increasingly seriously by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) which has this year launched a major campaign (CUFF) and series of spot inspections targeting noise. The effects of NIHL can be compared to Asbestosis, in that debilitating symptoms develop long after the damage has taken place. Hearing loss has been cited as the largest preventable factor in the development of dementia, while noise has been re-classed from a category II to a category III hazard – akin to asbestos dust or even bullets meaning that all hearing protection equipment (HPE) must have been through advanced levels of testing.
Dr David Greenberg, Clinical and Research Audiologist and inventor of Eave’s ground-breaking technology warns: “As awareness of the profound long-term effects of noise-induced hearing loss increases - particularly its link to cognitive decline and dementia - it has become clear that traditional hearing protection is no longer sufficient. Businesses must understand that outdated methods may not adequately safeguard their workers or protect themselves from legal repercussions. It is both a moral obligation and a strategic necessity for companies to take the threat of NIHL seriously by adopting advanced, data-driven solutions that effectively prevent harm and demonstrate compliance with evolving health and safety standards."
Legislation demands that businesses do all that is ‘reasonably practical’ to protect staff but what is possible within that remit has changed dramatically in recent years. Incredible advances in technology have been made: HSE last year invited Eave, one of just five businesses and the only representative in hearing protection, to an industry sandbox to investigate the future use of technology in health & safety.
The HSE CUFF campaign and a deeper understanding of the significant links between NIHL and serious life limiting illness should be a trigger for all businesses at risk to take a closer look at their provision of hearing protection, now. And Eave’s game changing technology can answer all the HSE’s questions.
Anchor Safety and Eave believe that their unique solution will support businesses from every angle. Sarah Tydeman, COO at Anchor Safety explains:“Eave Technology will ensure that not only will businesses have the most appropriate HPE for employees, but also have full access to data which will show that the HPE is being used correctly and consistently. This clear and usable information will also help to train staff and ensure they are actively engaged in improving protection of their own hearing, whilst supporting the business in the event of litigation.”
