More powers to ensure that CE Marks are genuine

Not all EU generated regulations are counterproductive.

Not all EU generated regulations are counterproductive.

Currently new regulations are being discussed with the intention of them becoming law before 2014 to make it a criminal offence to apply the CE mark when it is not required and/or where a CE mark has been falsely applied. The same regulation will provide the enforcement authorities with greater powers to take action against manufacturers when their products should manifest the CE mark and they do not.

The BSIF welcomes this development and is actively engaged in the consultation process. It also hopes that these enhanced powers will make it easier for the enforcers to bring appropriate actions and secure convictions.
