Thorworld Industries is advising companies on the benefits of renting mobile yardramps as a short-term option for meeting capacity during peak periods such as Christmas, pointing to the successful example of farming and vegetable packing business Strawsons in Newark.
Strawsons has 65 full time staff and also hires temporary staff during busy seasonal periods. While its permanent site has dedicated loading bays, Strawsons utilises a satellite site in the weeks leading up to December to deal with the increase in output.
It purchased its first ramp back in 2003, which Thorworld regularly services and maintains. From 2009, Strawsons began to rent additional ramps to enhance production across its sites.
A cost-effective and highly practical solution, “Thorworld’s yardramps are easy to operate and extremely safe, essential when members of our workforce are seasonal, temporary staff,” Strawsons’ Billy Prince says.
