Graffiti project goes ahead

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

3M has helped protect the lungs of youngsters in Northern Ireland as they took part in a community graffiti project which teaches them about cultural diversity.

The ’Skills for Your Life’ programme, at the South Eastern Regional College in North Down, was the initiative of artists Inga and Andy Hamilton and the Peace III programme. When limited funding put restrictions on the launch of the programme, 3M provided 30 3M 4251 Maintenance Free Reusable Half Mask Respirators, which protect against the paint mist particulate and solvents commonly used with paints.

Andy Hamilton said: “Using respirators, like the ones provided by 3M, will help to reduce the effects of respiratory diseases caused by paints and will go some way towards making spray-painted graffiti a safer and more approachable artform.”
