Cirrus Research launches the new doseBadge
FOR YEARS, the doseBadge has been one of the simplest ways to measure how much workplace noise a person is exposed to. Clip it on at the start of a shift, take it off at the end, and you have the data you need to protect your team’s hearing and meet your legal duties.

Now Cirrus Research has launched a new and improved version of the doseBadge, built around one idea: making noise monitoring easier for everyone involved, from the person wearing the badge to the person responsible for the results.
See it as it happens
Until now, noise exposure data has usually been reviewed after the event, once the badges have been collected and downloaded. The new doseBadge shares its readings throughout the day instead.
Add a doseHub, a small unit that sits on the wall and connects to your network, and it will pick up any badge that passes nearby and automatically send its readings to the online portal. A badge only needs to be in range for a moment, so a hub placed somewhere people walk past, such as a canteen or corridor, can keep a whole team up to date.
From the portal, you can see each person’s exposure so far, whether their badge is measuring and how much battery it has left. You can check from your desk, from another site or from home.
Hear what caused it
A noise reading tells you how loud it was, but not why. When levels rise above a limit you choose, the doseBadge now has an optional add on, offering the chance to record a short audio clip, including the few seconds before the noise began. It stores up to 35 clips of 15 seconds each, so you can listen back and identify the task, tool or machine responsible instead of relying on someone’s memory of a busy shift.
Stay in control
Badges within range of a doseHub can be started, stopped or paused from the portal, wherever you are. If someone has begun their shift without starting a measurement, you can see it and fix it remotely.
On site, the dBControl handheld remote does the same job. Its new Nearby mode recognises the badge it is held next to, which saves scrolling through a list when a whole team is being monitored.
Easier every day
Much of the new design is about removing small frustrations.
- Badges can start measuring automatically when lifted from the charging dock and stop when they are put back, which is ideal for teams without fixed shift patterns.
- The battery lasts more than 24 hours.
- The device can be set up to take account of the hearing protection a person is wearing
- All lights can be dimmed or switched off for a more discreet badge.
- If a badge loses power unexpectedly, it will recover as much of the measurement as it can.
- A new digital microphone gives more consistent results
- The device meets the newest IEC 61252:2025 standards.
Still the doseBadge
Some things haven’t changed. It’s still the tough, metal-cased, tamper-proof badge that customers know, with no buttons, cables or screens to worry about.
