BSIF assumes secretariat role for Safety Groups UK

Established in 1947, SGUK has long been a cornerstone of the UK’s health and safety landscape. The organisation works to promote awareness, understanding, and practical approaches to managing work-related safety and health risks. Across the UK, numerous local and regional voluntary safety groups operate under the SGUK umbrella, supporting employers and duty-holders in a wide range of industries.

This transition marks a significant step in SGUK’s journey, as the collaboration with BSIF will strengthen national coordination, broaden engagement, and enhance communication between SGUK and its affiliated local groups.

Alan Murray, CEO of BSIF, expressed his enthusiasm: “I have been involved with SGUK and have engaged with local groups over the years; I have the greatest respect for them and their efforts in sharing best practices and playing their part in tackling the challenges of safety and occupational ill-health across the UK. I am confident that with the added support of BSIF, we, collectively, will continue to play our part in keeping the workforce of the UK safer and healthier”.
