York Hospital has about 3000 people
on site each day that potentially
require evacuation in an emergency
situation, including patients who have
heart and respiratory issues, serious
injuries and those women in the third
trimester of pregnancy.

With previous positive experience
of Evac+Chair products, the hospital
has installed an additional 20 chairs
for its stairwells and in public access
areas of the multi-storey car park, to
serve as part of emergency
evacuation plans. The chairs are very
easy to use and can assist in
emergency evacuation of vulnerable
and mobility-impaired people.

The hospital has also invested in
the Key Trainer Master Class
programme which provides
comprehensive training in the use of
equipment so trained staff can
instruct other employees, allowing
knowledge of how to properly
operate the chairs to be easily
transferred within the hospital.
