NEBOSH and HSE launch new certificate

The new NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management has been launched.

The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) has teamed up with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to launch the new NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management.

The qualification is the result of a unique collaboration designed to combine the 'high hazard' expertise of HSE with NEBOSH's ability to deliver strong vocational OSH qualifications. It is designed to equip people with a broad understanding or the accepted principles and practices for the management of process risk.

Karen Russ, science and commercial director at HSE said: “It is a real pleasure to co-develop this new qualification with NEBOSH. We hope that by combining our strengths, this qualification will help to significantly improve understanding and further reduce health and safety risks in the process industries worldwide.”

The new qualification is ideal for managers, safety representatives and health and safety advisors working within the process industries, both inside and outside the UK. However it is not designed for chemical and process safety engineers experienced in the specification, design and maintenance of process plant.

In related news NEBOSH have announced that its Environmental Awareness at Work qualification is now available to study in Arabic. This introductory-level, one-day qualification provides understanding of environmental impacts, responsibility, and risk control, and can be tailored to specific industry or company requirements.

Matthew Powell-Howard, NEBOSH qualifications development manager, said: “The rapid economic development of many Arabic speaking countries – such as the UAE – presents a variety of environmental challenges such as air pollution, waste management and high carbon footprints. The Environmental Awareness at Work qualification helps all kinds of organisations to give their employees a greater understanding of environmental issues and how to manage them."
