Vibration meters

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

The only true way of gauging and managing vibration for the prevention of Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is measurement.

Vibration meters provide extremely accurate personalised data for all equipment used by individual employees in any specific application with solid, measurable, repeatable data.

The latest meters are worn on the hand, body or underneath a seated employee. They measure real-time data logged over the course of an entire day, accurately measuring an individual’s exposure through each task.

Across many applications including construction, demolition and remediation there is also an increasing requirement to monitor indoor and outdoor building or ground vibration, often combined with noise monitoring. The latest technology for these applications can run unmanned for several days and send live data for continuous reporting.

Over the last ten years significant improvements have been made and managing vibration exposure has become a relatively straightforward task. Consequently most employers have a clearer understanding of the risk and use data in conjunction with systems such as the HSE Points guidelines to manage occupational exposure.

Shawcity has a wide range of vibration monitoring equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers available to hire or buy and our team can advise you on the right products for your specific application.
