Health & Safety Executive investigating Drayton Manor

Health & Safety Executive inspectors are currently onsite at Tamworth based Drayton Manor theme park, following the tragic death of a young girl. The theme park has now been closed to the public.

11 year old Evha Jannath, who was on a school trip, fell over the side of the Splash Canyon water ride and was dragged underwater by the current. Evah's family said that their "world has been torn apart" by the death of their "beautiful little girl."

There are some reports that a mother contacted Drayton Manor four years ago to warn of safety concerns after her son fell off the same ride.

A Drayton Manor spokesperson said: “The tragic events on Tuesday have shaken the whole Drayton Manor family from the board, through to staff and visitors.
“We would like to extend our thanks to the emergency services for everything they did yesterday.

“The park will be closed on Thursday, to allow the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to complete their work.”

The HSE is expected to issue a statement once investigations have been completed.
