New standard in standing at work

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Many office workers sit at their desks. The problem is that prolonged sitting is not considered to be good for us and is being linked to a variety of health conditions. Public Health England is recommending that we stand with light activity for at least two hours during our working day. That is why an increasing number of organisations are introducing sit/stand desks into the workplace.

Standing is now deemed better for us than sitting. However, lengthy periods of standing on hard or firm floor surfaces can be uncomfortable and also detrimental to health. Orthomat Office developed by anti-fatigue matting specialists COBA Europe could be a simple, yet effective solution to standing safety and comfort.

COBA Europe, headquartered in the UK, has decades of experience in the anti-fatigue and floor level safety market. It is one of the largest matting manufacturers and suppliers in Europe. On the back of research and scientific studies, Orthomat Office is one of COBA Europe’s latest floor matting innovations that has been designed specifically for use with sit/stand desks and workstations.

Orthomat Office is manufactured from resilient Polyurethane, incorporating high-density foam, to produce a mat that provides a balance between underfoot cushioning and essential support. Feet naturally adapt to the cushioned surface, which helps to promote healthier circulation, and in doing so delays or reduces the effects of pain and fatigue from standing. It’s also a handy size and weight to move and relocate. Bevelled edging reduces the risk of tripping and has ‘anti-curl’ properties so that mat sits flush to the floor.
