Phoenix Health & Safety
April 1st 2008

Phoenix Health & Safety are market leaders in health & safety training and consultancy services. Their head office is in the West Midlands, but they also have offices in Central London and Liverpool. All three offices have superb training facilities, and excellent road/rail links.

A variety of training courses are regularly held at all 3 locations, including:

NEBOSH National General Certificate NEBOSH Construction Certificate IOSH Managing Safely

In addition to these courses, Phoenix offer a variety of courses that can be run at clients' premises, specifically for their employees. These include the IOSH Working Safely Course, a oneday course intended to provide all employees with a basic level of health and safety awareness. The advantage of this approach is that the courses are tailored specifically for the organisation and industry – focussing on the hazards and issues particular to the group of employees. The client's procedures, forms, templates etc. can also be built into the course at little or no extra cost. Other bespoke courses on offer include risk assessment, accident investigation, managing contractors, manual handling train-the-trainer, manual handling awareness and COSHH risk assessment.

Phoenix Health & Safety are so confident in their training team and methods, that they offer a guaranteed pass on all IOSH and NEBOSH courses. This sounds too good to be true, but is a genuine offer. If delegates attend every day of the course and do as they are asked, then Phoenix are confident everyone will pass – if they don't, they are free to attend any or all of the course again at Phoenix's expense!

The attitude of the organisation is set by the Managing Director, Nick Higginson MSc CMIOSH Dip2.OSH SpDipEM MIIRSM. Nick started his health and safety career with the IOSH Managing Safely course, and went on to achieve distinctions in four different NEBOSH awards.

This was capped by being awarded a Masters Degree with Distinction in Occupational Health & Safety Management at Loughborough University.

He has years of practical experience in improving health & safety management in virtually every industry, and has worked as a Principal Examiner for NEBOSH on several qualifications. Who better to know exactly what you need to do to pass?

Nick said, "Our focus at Phoenix Health & Safety is to be practical, but professional. Health & safety doesn't need to be complicated or scary – we cut through the waffle and concentrate on the core issues. Our trainers and consultants have been specifically selected for their down-toearth attitude and approachable manner – we take the hassle out of health & safety".

Don't just take Nick's word for it – this is what a recent Phoenix delegate on a NEBOSH Certificate course had to say: "Thank you for the excellent course. I feel so much more confident in giving health & safety advice in my organisation.

The way that the information was presented really helped me in the exams. I would not hesitate to come back for more training in the future, and would certainly give Phoenix Health & Safety's name to anyone who requires health & safety training.

I have attended courses with many other health and safety training providers, and your teaching style is second to none." Simon Shorter, H&S Assistant, Informa UK. Ltd.

On a recent NEBOSH Construction Certificate Course, Phoenix achieved a 100% pass rate.

Even more impressively, of the 8 delegates, there were 2 distinctions and 5 credits! In addition to their training courses, Phoenix Health & Safety also offer a range of consultancy services to assist organisations to improve their health & safety performance. Their services range from one-off compliance audits to annual retainer contracts, and everything in-between including:

Preparing Health & Safety Policies Carrying out risk assessments – General, COSHH, Manual Handling, Computers and Fire Accident investigation Audits/inspections followed by comprehensive reports 24 hour telephone/email support Development of health & safety manuals, procedures, employee guidance etc.

A client newsletter is also produced on a regular basis, to keep clients up to date with legislation changes, recent court cases etc.

Phoenix have a list of clients that is growing by the day, including some major household names.

Despite their outstanding success to date, Phoenix Health & Safety certainly won't be resting on their laurels – plans for the future include offering NEBOSH Diploma, and offering all existing courses by distance and E-learning.
