Buy a British Red Cross Trainer August 1st 2008 The British Safety Council
recently reported that as
many as 62% of workers had
received little or no health
and safety training, with 51%
of employers not even
offering their workers the
chance to train in this area.
Concerned by these figures,
the British Red Cross has
responded with a training
offer aimed at addressing this
skills void. Businesses
throughout the UK will be
offered the opportunity to
"buy" a Red Cross first aid
expert for the day, enabling
up to three basic skills
sessions to be taught in the
convenience of their own
office.
The Save a Life sessions
will allow up to 36 members
of staff to receive tuition in
essential skills such as the
Recovery Position and CPR,
and learn how to recognise
the symptoms of every day
killers such as heart attacks
and strokes. Holding these
sessions in house will not
only put employees at ease
by providing familiar
surroundings but will
significantly reduce the
burden that would be placed
on the business by allowing
such a large number of staff
time off to attend external
training sessions.
The Red Cross, believes
that by providing employees
with life saving skills
businesses are not only
providing a safer place of
work but are also investing in
their local community. More articles from British Red Cross Centre: |
