Tunnel and shaft for training centre
April 1st 2006

TAG Safety, a working at height and rescue specialist has opened a new training facility at its HQ near Manchester.

The 30m tunnel system and 17m shaft is believed to be the only training facility of its type in the North West. It complements TAG's established height training towers - a five storey tower for rope access, tactical and rescue work, 15m mono poles and a 30m telecoms training tower.

A confined space is classed as any space of an enclosed nature where there is a risk of death or serious injury from hazardous substances or dangerous conditions. These can include storage tanks, silos, enclosed drains and sewers, combustion chambers, line shafts and ductwork.

The confined space training facility at TAG can be used to simulate all such environments.

Courses available include one on Safe Access that covers the use of systems such as winches, tripods and recovery harnesses.
