Shattered lives: website updated June 1st 2008 Visitors to the Health &
Safety Executive's website
will find that the home page
of its Shattered Lives
campaign has been restyled.
Now included are a range of
video case studies, resources
and tools, all designed to
help prevent accidents in the
workplace.
While often seen as
funny, the consequences of
slips, trips and falls can be
serious and the injuries
horrific. The lives of workers
and their families can be
shattered. Many workers are
forced to find new means of
employment; others lose
their ability to earn and may
never return to work.
The HSE's Shattered Lives
campaign was launched in
February 2008 with the aim
of encouraging both
employers and employees to
take responsibility for
preventing accidents to
themselves and their
colleagues.
Specifically targeted are
five key sectors:
construction, food and drink
manufacture, food retail,
hotel and catering, and
building and plant
maintenance.
The HSE hopes those
involved in managing
workplace safety will make
use of its free resources to
start their own campaigns to
prevent slips, trips and falls.
