For roof safety February 1st 2005 A roof safety system has been installed by Safesite at the University of Wales in Swansea to allow safe maintenance of plant and machinery on top of the Talbot Building.
Plant and equipment, such as air conditioning units are in two areas of the roof: where the roof has been changed back to a flat roof; and at one end of the building where it has been converted for another department.
The need for frequent access meant that the provision of a permanent form of roof edge protection was needed.
Safesite’s freestanding System 2000 provides a permanent solution to the roof’s safety requirement without the need to mechanically fix the structure to the roof itself.
The design overcomes concerns that a permanent fixing could damage the roof’s membrane and possibly cause water penetration.
For areas where it was not suitable to install a guardrail, Safesite’s horizontal lifeline provides those accessing the area with hands-free protection throughout the length of the system.
Safesite offers advice and CPD training on the correct use of products, as well as compliance with legislation. More articles from Safesite Limited: |
