Protects against falls
December 1st 2007

The HSE is urging companies to prevent falls from vehicles and take the Work at Height Regulations 2005 seriously. Mercian has developed a product which, it believes, solves the problem without 'fudging' the issue.

As far as Adrian Allen, director of Mercian is concerned, modifying lorries and trailers with non-slip surfaces, access ladders, and handholds doesn't go far enough towards preventing falls.

He comments "We wanted to produce a system which really did prevent falls, not just provide a gesture towards the Work at Height regs. After looking at: bags, rails, walkways and restraint wires, we believe the only way to really protect a worker is a site-based system.

"Our product has an overhead mechanism which effectively follows workers, then is automatically activated to catch their fall should they slip or lose their footing." Catchfall is available for hire or sale.
