STABILITY FOR USERS AND KIND TO GROUND
October 1st 2004

When transmissions engineers at United Utilities needed an insulated platform that would provide safety and performance in mud and on slopes, but that had low ground bearing pressure Versalift provided a solution.

Engineers install and maintain overhead power lines, so the platform had to provide Category C 46kv insulation and 14m working height.

The Versalift VST240MHI (14m w/h) platform has a materials handling jib/winch mounted on an 11.5t Loglogic Bigtrak crawler.

The company says it is the first access platform to be made available on the Bigtrak, and that it exerts much lower ground pressure than wheeled platform mounts.

The unit can be used without stabilisers on gradients to 5°. A warning system indicates the gradient and a safety interlock prevents operation above 5° until outriggers are deployed.
