Filmed for safety April 1st 2007 To protect refinery staff from the possible effects of a blast, management at Inco Europe's South Wales site called in window treatment expert C&M Window Films. Huw Morgan of C&M explains "We were asked to audit glazing in the office and laboratory accommodation and recommend an effective explosion-protection system to protect staff from injury. "We supplied and installed CPFilm's Llumar SCL PS7Clear Blast Mitigation Film and Gullwing edge retention system to glazing in the quality and assurance block, medical centre, fitness centre, shipping and stores office and process gas plant. "Certain areas of the refinery also required a solar reflective characteristic so we applied Llumar SS120 SR PS8 Solar Reflective blast Mitigation Film which achieved both objectives." The Gullwing edge retention system anchors security or anti-shatter film to the frame of a window system. While the film provides safe breakage, fragment retention and containment to BS EN 12600, Gullwing is said to keep the glass within the frame. More articles from CPFilms Solutra UK Ltd: |
