Three Valleys Water has ensured continuing water quality and safety for thousands of homes in England with new helically wound, seamless bulk chemical storage tanks from Allibert Helix.

The tanks were installed as part of an upgrade to the water treatment facility at Iver, Buckinghamshire, that required a means of safely holding and delivering liquid sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulphate.

The site previously used the industry standard treatment process of gaseous chlorine and sulphur dioxide, with chemicals stored on-site under pressure. This meant the Works was defined as a top Tier 1 site under the Control of Major Accidents and Hazards regulations.

Three Valleys wanted to move away from this as part of its ongoing risk management programme.

Allibert Helix supplied four 6000 gallon tanks for sodium hypochlorite storage and three for sodium bisulphite. All were produced using a winding process that creates a stress-free cylinder with distinctive rings on the outside and a smooth finish on the inside.
