Practical spill control June 1st 2007 The Plant Nappy from
Fosse Liquitrol is
designed for external use
to contain and absorb
oil and fuel spills from
generators and other
site equipment while
draining clean, pure
rainwater through the
filter mechanism.
The base of the
mat is nonpermeable
fabric
laminated
with an oil
soak pad to
absorb the
oil. It is protected by
a permeable top
fabric that allows
free passage of
contaminants. The
side wall is permeable
with a filter fabric that
allows free passage of
water, but not oil. It only
discharges clean water.
At Walthamstow
Reservoir No 4, Ian
Casson, group
environmental manager
with Barhale Construction
had concerns with drip
trays under small site
equipment. He says
"They are heavy and
require plant to
move them, which
can be difficult in
areas with space
constraints. When
they are full of oily
water, they are
particularly difficult to
handle and can be easily
spilled."
Casson now
recommends Plant
Nappies under all small
equipment on Barhole
sites where there is a
risk. More articles from Fosse Ltd: |
