SENSES A PRESENCE IN THE DOORWAY
October 1st 2005

Automatic door-sensor specialist BEA has launched the latest version of Iris, an active infrared sensor that can be used with sliding, revolving or curved sliding doors.

Fail-safe, the new sensor is monitored in accordance with the European draft standard prEN 12650 (Powered Pedestrian Doors) and TÜV-certified.

Iris is a volumetric presence sensor that compares the reflectivity of detected objects with that of the background.

This means that there is no area of non-detection between the detection area and the ground.

The sensor’s 6, 12 or 24 overlapping spots form a uniform surface that leaves neither a foot nor a hand undetected.
