Lift solutions December 1st 2004 Two Minivator 9000 wheelchair platform lifts from Dolphin Stairlifts have been installed at Streetwise in Bournemouth as part of a £35 000 upgrade of the centre’s disabled facilities.
One of the lifts has been installed between the building’s main corridor and upstairs offices; the second operates between the ground and first floor.
Minivators can be used both indoors and outdoors and are suitable for both public and domestic environments. They are available as an open lift or can be fully enclosed.
Designed to be safe and easy-to-use, they provide independent access for wheelchair users as recommended by the Disabilities Discrimination Act.
Tony Packer (pictured) is one very satisfied lift user.
He had to give up his voluntary job at Streetwise when he could no longer manage the stairs.
Installation of the lifts has provided him with a means of getting to the upper storeys of the building, so he has been able to return to the centre. |
