Earplugs aboard
February 1st 2004

Advanced Communication Systems (ACS) has supplied P&O Ferries in Dover with 450 custom fitted earplugs.

The ear-pieces are used by staff working on the vehicle loading decks where it is imperative, for safety reasons, that employees are able to hear instructions and warnings clearly.

The ER15 allows

the user to hear sounds at safe

levels, such as conversation, warning alarms and telephones, while filtering unsafe levels of noise that could be damaging.

It provides a clear reduction in frequencies so there is no loss in the clarity of sound. The system is said to be comfortable to wear and is colour-coded, making it easy for management to see that it is being used.

The company claims that the ER15 is more hygienic and cost effective than traditional foam plugs.
