Eye protection
December 1st 2005 Eye protection is a key issue in chemicals handling and Centrica Energy, the gas production and processing arm of Centrica, has specified Pulsafe safety spectacles from Bacou- Dalloz to protect its staff.
A recent introduction, the XC prescription spectacles, have proved particularly successful.
Brian Helliwell, HS&E adviser for Centrica Energy, explains "We have a long standing contract with Bacou-Dalloz for eye protection, with staff on our offshore gas drilling platforms using the Pulsafe XC Plano.
"We are very impressed with the latest Pulsafe XC prescription product that we have been trialling, as it could prove very cost effective with personnel who are traditionally hard on lenses.
"We have some staff who request replacement spectacles more frequently than the norm because of scratched prescription lenses. The Pulsafe XC will enable us to reduce this cost, since the outer lens can be replaced without having to change or replace the more expensive prescription lens behind."
