Taking the spark out of PPE
April 1st 2007

Praybourne Products has introduced a range of underwear, secondary and outer work wear layers that are inherently flame retardant and anti-static.

The underwear is made from Protex/Viloft, an inherent flame-resistant yarn. Protex is blended with Viloft which has wicking properties to create a base layer that is suitable for those in the utilities and petrochemicals markets. The anti-static properties come from the addition of Beltron carbon fibres.

Acting as next-to-skin garments, the underwear is said to fit well and to complement outer garments, giving head-to-toe protection.

Praybourne points out that non-anti-static underwear, especially products made of materials such as nylon or polyester, can build and store static charges when worn for short periods of time.
