Re-design for suits
October 1st 2006

A protective AF (air fed) suit for use in the nuclear and associated industries has been introduced by Professional Protection Systems.

The NU2 is said by Mark Whitcher, MD, to be the result of a complete revaluation of the PPE needs of operatives in the nuclear industry.

He says "We jettisoned all received wisdom about what a suit should consist of and do and, instead, spent a long time with industry members, both management and front line, to find out exactly what was required.

The NU2 is the result." The new design is a PVC two-piece. It is said to ensure maximum mobility as well as offering more component and cost options. The configuration of the hood and visor is said to give an unprecedented degree of all-round vision.

Two non-return valves in the back of the hood ensure a good air exhaust flow, while the air inlet in the front of the hood incorporates the company's emergency breather system.

Two forms of glove fitting are offered.
