SAFETY HINGE AND SWITCH IN ONE UNIT
August 1st 2005

A new hinge switch has been introduced by Schmersal for guard doors and combines hinge and switch in a single unit.

The TVS-410 safety hinge switch can be used to monitor the position of safety guards as it is installed on the hinge side so that neither the switchgear nor the actuator protrude into the doorway of open safety guards.

The unit’s design allows engineers to set an optimum opening angle to 180° for the access door by adjusting the safety hinge switch using a special key provided. The switch is said to be tamper proof so that when the angle is set, it cannot be changed without the key.

Slotted holes make fixing easy, and the 180° opening angle enables the TVS-410 to be fitted against doorposts and safety guards. This means that safety guard systems with very small doorpost gap widths can be accommodated, and the unit can even be fitted between the doorpost and the safety guard.
