Passwords have traditionally been used as a means of maintaining safety and security, as well as monitoring critical processing operations.

The Electronic-Key-System from Euchner UK, which provides a level of monitoring and control to meet the highest standards, provides secure user identification without the use of passwords.

It has proved successful in harsh industrial environments, including machine guarding, with widespread use also in the automotive industry.

Applications for monitoring complex process operations involving multi-operator access are now becoming more common.

EKS comprises Electronic- Key and matching Electronic-Key adapter. The former, in the form of a robust tag, contains a memory chip and antenna.

This is a transponder without a battery, that transmits its information inductively, to evaluation electronics in the Electronic-Key adapter.

The memory in the key in general contains a range of information such as name, department and, importantly, varying level of access rights.
