BOOSTS SAFETY AND MACHINE EFFICIENCY
April 1st 2005

A solenoid interlock should provide accurate alignment of actuator and device.

During a lifetime of use, however, actuator and device can become misaligned, causing damage to both components and leading to machine downtime and repair costs.

The AZM 200 non-contact solenoid interlock from Schmersal Safety Systems is designed to eliminate this problem. It uses recently developed pulse echo sensor technology that allows actuator and interlock to engage even with an offset of -5mm.

This simplifies mounting and reduces the need for regular maintenance and adjustment of the safety guard.

The interlock also helps increase machine uptime as its special diagnostics provide rapid troubleshooting.

This means that a fault does not lead automatically to the machine shutting off immediately. Instead, the fault is first signalled so that shutdown can be progressive and controlled.
