Covers the lead screw
April 1st 2006

Lead screws on conventional lathes should be covered in order to avoid accidents.

The onus is on employers to carry out risk assessments in machine shops and tool rooms to take account of this and prevent costly insurance claims.

Beakbane has designed a simple, inexpensive solution in the form of a bellow that covers and protects the lead screw and shaft of any conventional lathe.

The device prevents stray clothing from becoming trapped in the lead screw and protects shafts from swarf.

It can be custom-made to suit any lathe and simply hooks onto the lead screw.
