October 1st 2006 The Solid-4E safety light curtain from Leuze Mayser is designed to provide safety protection in tough, arduous conditions, whether it is accidental collision which is catered for by its strong torsionally stiff housing or high immunity from EMC disturbance. The company says troublefree performance is complemented by a choice of four standard resolutions – 20, 30, 40 and 90mm – making Solid 4E a flexible safety light curtain for hazardous point protection or area protection across many diverse applications. These can include finger and hand protection at presses and stamping machines for the metal, leather and plastic industries or at manual inserting areas of automated manufacturing cells. Suitable where multiple light curtain guarding requirements are needed in close proximity, the Solid 4E has two different and adjustable light beam codings. This is said to eliminate potential optical cross-talking of neighbouring devices, ensuring reliable safety protection. Standard functions include restart interlock and relay monitoring; the intelligent interface devices of the MSI series are available as a flexible function extension such as muting, single/double break or the connection of safety switches.
