Too tired to react?
February 1st 2006

The need for serious thought about the impact of sleep disorders was highlighted by a recent TV programme.

BBC1's Real Story with Fiona Bruce featured results of research carried out by sleep specialist Respironics - SASA.

The programme focused on accident case studies and independent research findings which demonstrate that sleep disorders are a significant contributor to death on the roads. The broader implication is that sleep disorders can impact on safety in any workplace - with far-reaching effects.

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea is a breathing disorder that causes temporary closing of the airways and a cessation of breathing during sleep.

Sufferers may be unaware of the condition and its nighttime effects, but may experience daytime fatigue and impaired concentration and reactions.

An OSA screening, diagnosis and compliance management system is offered by Respironics - SASA.
