Lucion Environmental has
received glowing praise from
Royal Navy top brass for its
work on a major asbestos
removal project. The
company was called in to
environmentally clean a
World War II vessel to ensure
the safe removal of asbestos.
HMS Rame Head is a
Canadian-built 'Fort' Class
merchant cargo ship that
brought food and war
materials from North
America to the UK. Now
moored in Portsmouth, it is
frequently used by the
Special Boat Service when
training in ship assaults.
The ship had accumulated
debris over the years, which
was exacerbated by some
areas having asbestos dust
and small fibre remnants, as
well as paint chippings,
sand, bird droppings and
carcasses.
Lieutenant Bob Lane,
responsible for the safe
disposal and renovation of
ships in the UK, said in
correspondence "Lucion's
knowledge of current
hazardous waste and civil
engineering regulations and
standards was particularly
useful for me as custodian
of Royal Navy hulk ships to
ensure we are compliant in
the unusual circumstances
surrounding this ship. I
would be delighted to work
with them again." |
