Staff security
June 1st 2006

With verbal and physical abuse against workers in show homes on the increase, house builders are looking for a way to protect their staff.

Assisting the fight against abuse is Identicom from Connexion2. Looking like a normal ID holder the system is equipped with a dual or tri-band GSM module, GSM SIM card, lithium battery and control electronics.

The device enables the lone worker to covertly raise an alarm if threatened and allows a third party to listen to what is happening and record events whatever the distance involved.

Identicom can also support the pinpointing of a worker's location using GSM/LBS technology, thereby providing all lone workers with a means of raising the alarm in the event of an accident.

Measuring 102 by 72 by 14mm and weighing just 68 grams, the system's advanced technology is all contained unobtrusively within the unit.

A lanyard attachment enables the device to be worn around the neck as a standard ID. It hides a 'rip alarm' function that is triggered if the unit is forcibly removed from the wearer. An emergency button activates the alarm
